FAQs
Everything you need to know
How we operate
We attempt to cover the majority needs of the individual or family while they are in our care. While we may not be able to provide everything, we will do our best to meet all basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, safety and cultural needs .
What is the referral process?
Individuals can self refer by calling our house 24/7. Our number is 902-626-9783. The staff person on duty will go through some basic preliminary questions to establish eligibility. If you are eligible, the staff on duty will direct you to our location or assist with arranging transportation (free of charge) if that is required.
Can I have a visitor?
In order to respect the privacy of all residents and staff members, visitors will be limited. However, if you have a family member or friend who is a part of your support team, we will work with you to arrange the best time for that person to visit.
Do I have to leave in the morning?
Residents do not have to leave in the morning. Geggunas'g will be your "home" while our team works with you to heal and to take the time to get reestablished in the community.
Can I bring My pet?
While we do all love pets, unfortunately due to space and safety restrictions we cannot accommodate them. We do work with emergency shelter services, however, to help find temporary housing for your family friends. In some cases, house visits may be possible.
How long can I stay?
According to our policy, the maximum duration of your stay would be 12 weeks. This is flexible, however, and would depend on the individual and family needs. It would depend on how engaged a client is in their moving forward plan.
How much does it cost?
We do not charge fees for any of our services or supports. If a resident does have an income however, we would expect them manage those funds wisely and utilize them to prepare for their next steps following their departure from Geggunas'g House.
